DÍA DE MUERTOS

NOVEMBER 3rd - 4th

SCHEDULE

What is Día de los Muertos?

Día de los muertos (Day of the Dead) is a multi-day Mexican holiday, where people gather to pay respects and to remember friends and family members who have died. Generally celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, families visit the cemeteries where their loved ones are buried and clean and decorate their graves with ofrendas (altars), often including the favorite foods and drinks of the deceased. The altars often include orange marigolds, which are thought to attract the souls of the dead to the offerings. It is also believed the strong smelling flowers can guide the souls from cemeteries to their family homes. El Dia De Los Muertos is a celebration to remember loved ones that have passed and it is a celebration of life for the living.
